SensFloor is a large-area sensor system and is based on a textile underlay with a thickness of 2 mm. It has four integrated radio modules and 32 proximity sensors per square meter. Whenever a person walks across the floor, sensor signals are sent to a control unit and various different types of events are identified: The sensor system distinguishes between a person standing or laying on the floor and determines the direction and the velocity of the movement. Static signal detection and self-test capability are important features for security applications.
Use of the mats in security applications such as access control systems, security checkpoints and revolving doors also provides major benefits when compared to traditional solutions by means of an option for counting persons. In combination with RFID the authentication of a person is possible.
SensFloor is installable beneath PVC, carpet and laminate. SensFloor suitable for the installation beneath tiles is under development.
